About the Quarry Challenge

In 2024, Nick Hudson, Quarry Captain of the then South Downs Bloodhounds organised quarry teams to walk the 100 mile route of the South Downs Way.

Well it's 2026 now and he's at it again...

As the Wessex Bloodhounds, the challenge is to walk the Wessex Ridgeway: 137 miles of beautiful Wiltshire and Dorset countryside in 4 days from 6th-9th August.

To meet this challenge, the quarries are splitting into 2 teams:

The K Team
Kate and Kerry are covering the route south from Avebury to Warminster, before jumping to the Dorset coast and walking from Lyme Regis northwards to Maiden Newton.

Team Dick
Doug and Nick will cover the central section, walking from Warminster to Maiden Newton.

How to support the Quarry Challenge

There are a couple of ways that you can support:

1. Click on the button below to visit our Go Fund Me page and donate - every little helps and we are very grateful for each and every donation. In 2024, we raised over £2000 to support the running of the Wessex Bloodhounds so that our sport can continue long into the future; we're aiming to beat that target this year!

2. Walk with us! The quarries would be delighted for some company and everyone is welcome to join for any section of the walk. If you're interested in joining the quarries, please contact Kate Robinson 07711 321168.
